Rights And Duties : Story

"Can we enjoy our rights without doing our Duties?"
For every duty there is a right, for every right there is a duty.
Rights are fair chosen exchange for fair duties.
You choose and are responsible for both.
You have a right to have duties and
you have a duty to have rights.
Rights are duties go hand in hand. Every citizen is granted the basic rights for the holistic growth of the individuals. We all boast a lot about the rights that our constitution grants us but more often than not, we forget that these rights also imply certain duties. There are many rights given to citizens which guarantee the ideas of equality, liberty and justice.
Citizens demand the rights which should be given to them but duties which have to be done by them are not fulfilled. We can't enjoy our rights without doing our duties because duties are to promote patriotism among the citizens and to help them to strengthen the nation. Some duties provided by the Indian constitution are -

  1. To renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women-but there are so many cases in which women are being insulted and they are asked for giving dowry.
  2. To value and preserve the rich heritage of the nation's composite character and many more.
The sad part is that there are not many rules to punish the citizens who are refraining from their duties.
Not doing our duties may not be punishable offence but as George Eliot had said-
"The reward of ones duty done is the power to fulfill another".
